Tuscarora Massacre at Fort Neoheroka (South Carolina)
Colonel James Moore, his militia volunteers, and Indian allies attack the main stronghold of the Tuscarora Indians at Fort Neoheroka. The Carolina Province colonists burn the village, and an estimated 200 men, women, and children are burned to death, with another 900-1,000 subsequently killed or captured and enslaved (“List of Indian massacres”).
